Virginia D. Blackford, 87, of Cottonwood died Saturday, April 11.
She was born January 1, 1916 in Trilla, Illinois. Blackford served in the Army Air Corps in World War II.
She leaves a nephew, Tony Louis Schisler.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 18, in the Clarkdale Baptist Church, at 10 a.m.

Idell Harrison
Aug. 12, 1930 — April 18, 2009

Idell Harrison, 78, of Cottonwood, died April 18. She was born Aug. 12, 1930, in Burtsell, Ark. Her husband of 49 years, Beve, preceded her in death. Harrison is survived by a son, John Harrison (Kathy) of Orange, Calif.; a daughter, Vicki McCormick, of Cottonwood; a sister, Irene Chvilicek, of Overton, Nev.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorial service will be held Thursday, April 23, in the Westcott Funeral Home at 2 p.m.

M. Elaine Shankland
Feb. 5, 1919 — April 10, 2009

M. Elaine Shankland, 90, formerly of Cottonwood, died April 10 in Prescott. She was born Feb. 5, 1919, in St. Helens, Ore.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Jon. She is survived by three children; Darryl “Bud” Shankland of Walla Walla, Wash., Jorga Stark of Woodland, Wash., and Mella Dee Wagner of Chino Valley; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Private services are planned.

Mildred Dorothy Swain
Aug. 9, 1915 — April 15, 2009

Mildred Dorothy Swain, 94, of Cottonwood, died April 15. She was born Aug. 9, 1915, in Minneapolis, Minn. Her husband, Norman Swain, and three brothers, Harry, Marvin and Robert, all preceded her in death.
She leaves her sons, Richard of California and Rodger of Cottonwood; a sister Amy Medeen of Minneapolis; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 18 in the
Westcott Funeral Home.
