The young talent of the Camp Verde High School golf team haven’t scored a qualifying round yet, but the players fast improvement is foreshadowing the next couple of years for the Cowboys.

Vance Tewawina, of the Camp Verde High School Golf Team, practices his putting at a golf course in Cornville on March 6. None of the young Camp Verde golfers have posted a state qualifying round yet this year, but Head Coach Chris Fuller said they are focused and continually improving. The team won its first match of the season on April 2, at a Cornville Golf Course — Camp Verde’s home golf course — against Bagdad and Northland Prep.

Camp Verde ended the match with a score of 196. Bagdad had 204 points and Northland Prep had 210 points.

Individually, Joel Beauty was low scorer with 45, Brett Worth scored 49 and Vance Tewawina scored 51.
