Camp Verde cowboyed up in the fourth quarter in one of its biggest games of the season and almost had an amazing come-from-behind win in the books — and on Senior Night, too.
The Camp Verde High School boys basketball [7-18] rallied back from a 19-point deficit in the fourth quarter, reducing its deficit to just two points against Division III conference rival Sedona Red Rock High School [6-15] at home on Thursday, Jan. 24. The Scorpions, however, held onto the lead and took home a 56-52 win.
The first half was a rough one for Cowboys. Their first few shots got into the basket but rolled out. The Scorpions had 13 points before freshman Javier Perez and sophomore Jordan Reay put four points up for the Cowboys. The Scorpions hit four 3-pointers in the first quarter while Perez and Reay had one 3-pointer each, putting the Cowboys 12 points behind.
