The Camp Verde High School track and field team had only four of its members finish in the top eight at the Division III State Championships this past weekend.

At Mesa Community College, schools from Divisions I, II, III and IV gathered to compete Friday and Saturday, May 11 and 12, in the blistering early summer sun.

“It was so hot. And the meet was so long,” longtime Camp Verde Head Coach Lori Showers said.
