Camp Verde girls head to state as No. 14 seed

The Camp Verde girls basketball team finished in the final four at the sectionals tournament and will still have a run for the state title.

The Camp Verde girls basketball team’s sectional tournament run was cut short when Fountain Hills beat Camp Verde 51-32 on Friday, Feb. 8, at Valley Vista High School, in the semifinals. The Cowboys are seeded No. 14 for the state tournament, which starts Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. when the Cowboys will play Ganando at Payson High School.The Cowboys sectional tournament run was cut short when Fountain Hills beat Camp Verde 51-32 on Friday, Feb. 8, at Valley Vista High School, in the semifinals of the 2013 Arizona Interscholastic Association Girls Basketball Division III, Section III Tournament.

“Fountain Hills came out ready to play and we were stuck back in the Parker game I think,” Cowboys Head Coach Mark Showers said.

The Cowboys beat Parker 49-30 on Feb. 5 in the quarterfinals of the tournament, and it was hard-fought victory.
