Ballers take to outdoor courts

Just the thought of picking up a basketball on an outside court during an Arizona August produces sweat.

However, cooler days are on their way as autumn approaches, and people will start emerging from their air-conditioned homes to enjoy the abundance of recreation in the Verde Valley.

The Camp Verde Parks and Recreation already has a few recreational activities lined up.

First off, it is bringing back the three-on-three basketball league this fall.

The league will be a round-robin style play and will feature a double-elimination tournament at the end of the season.

“We did a three-on-three tournament about three years ago,” said Lynda Moore, the recreation supervisor of Camp Verde Parks and Recreation department. “It was successful then, so we thought we would try it again.”

For the full story, please see the Wednesday, Aug. 8, issue of the Camp Verde Journal.
