The farmers market in Cottonwood is in full swing for the season, so I decided to venture down last night with my fiance and niece who is visiting from out of town. The market looked different than last year’s scene. There were fewer produce tables and more craft vendors, which may be because it’s still early to harvest some crops. The biggest difference, however, was the number of people. There were tons of Verde Valley residents who turned out for produce, bread, shaved ice, jewelry or homemade crafts. People were seated in the grass, on hay bails or in chairs they brought from home. Others kicked up dust in front of the stage while a reggae band gave them noise to move to. It was nice to see the community come together and enjoy a warm July evening. |
