Ismael “Smiley” Lopez Hernandez, 85, of Clarkdale, died Sept. 22.

Born June 26, 1926, in Jerome, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by wife Cate; daughter Christine Hayes; sons Steven, Roy, Paul and Robert; sister Soccoro Lira; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial Mass was held Sept. 28 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Inurnment followed in All Souls Cemetery.
