Tonya Short was once asked to run for town council. She declined. Short said she doesn’t think she’d ever be cut out to deal with the requirements of politics.

Tonya Short, an eight-year survivor of ovarian cancer and the team development chairwoman for Relay For Life, talks April 18 about how she came to be involved in the cancer research fundraising program.“There’s not too much gray for me,” Short said. “I see things in black or white.”

While that attitude may make Short rather intractable in an argument, it’s also one that makes her passionate about the things she does believe in, such as her work for the Camp Verde Relay For Life as the team development chairperson.
