Recycling services for residents of Cottonwood have been provided in part by Sedona Recycles, a nonprofit that has been serving the city for nearly a decade and a half. The recycling center on Camino Real just behind Mingus Union High School was furnished for Cottonwood by Sedona Recycles. When the economy took a downward turn, Cottonwood stopped paying Sedona Recycles for the service, and now the nonprofit wants payments restored.

The organization has worked for years in the Verde Valley to provide an option to recycle for residents.

The city of Cottonwood used to provide funding for the nonprofit to provide services.

When the economy went south, the city stopped funding the recycling efforts in town.

Sedona Recycles maintained a presence in Cottonwood, however.
