Going a little more energy-efficient has already started to pay off a bit for the Town of Camp Verde. The town last year used a portion of money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to install new HVAC units on top of the town’s public works building. The town received just over $91,000 to install nine new units. The work, completed last August, cost only around $78,000. On top of that, the town also earned $12,000 from APS, part of the company’s incentive program for upgrading to more energy-efficient practices. The money from APS, along with leftover stimulus money, could be used to install more efficient climate control units at the library, according to Town Manager Russ Martin. The Camp Verde Town Council voted Feb. 2 to move money around in the budget for the library project. Martin told council the library project may cost less than the money the council voted to set aside. Mayor Bob Burnside indicated leftover money could be used for other town projects. |
