The city of Cottonwood is looking to bring more parking to Old Town. The city’s staff is looking at improving an area near the Old Town Jail, according to a report filed by Cottonwood Development Services Director Dan Lueder.

Annie Rhinehart works on a mural outside a new shop opening soon in the Old Town Jail in Old Town Cottonwood on March 6. City staff is looking to build a new parking lot on Arizona State Parks-owned land next to the jail. Rhinehart is known for her murals on many businesses around the Verde Valley. The building itself has been restored, and the city wants to continue to make things a little bit nicer in Old Town. The jail may also soon be home to a shop with easy access to the nearby Jail Trail.

“With the completion of the rehabilitation of the Old Town Jail, the next step in this project is construction of a new parking lot around the jail on the former Gardner property north of Yavapai Street,” the report stated.
