While the Town of Camp Verde is moving forward with plans to build a new library, staff and volunteers have been busier making the most of thae one already there.

Tables of free books and food greeted patrons at the library Friday, Sept. 21, as library Director Kathy Hellman happily showed visitors around, pointing out some of the recent changes.

Things have been moved around, making better use of the space available inside.

Outside, Hellman took a moment to water some of the large potted plants now brightening the entrance to the library while volunteer Amber Polo worked to recruit more people to volunteer time to help the library and its operations.

Polo points to a sign designating a recently established smoking area, designed to draw smokers away from the immediate front area of the library where children often are.

Inside, some of the shelves have been rearranged so some books aren’t at floor level anymore, Hellman said, where they can often be hard to get to or look at.

Hellman points to a display of new books on the shelf, pointing out that they were put up there by a volunteer.
