Things were smelling pleasant last week in the parking lot of the Outpost Mall on Finnie Flat Road, as volunteers with the local Kiwanis Club unloaded more than 200 Christmas trees in preparation of the annual tree sale.Lynn Sweitzer, Raven Martinez and Pat Schultz, from left, run the annual Kiwanis Christmas Tree sale Thursday, Dec. 5, on Finnie Flat Road in front of the shopping plaza in Camp Verde. Martinez was the recipient of the Kiwanis Scholarship to Yavapai College, so she was eager to help.

‘Tis the season and the sale is the Kiwanis Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year.

The money raised from the sale of the trees stays local to benefit several different programs for students and children in the community. For more than three decades, the tree sale has been one of the year’s biggest fundraisers for the club.
