Sedona’s chapter of the Sweet Adelines, Red RockAppella, recently sang in its sixth annual Holiday Show.

The four-part, barber-shop style women’s chorus was founded in 2006. The women have entertained audiences in Sedona and the surrounding communities with their tight harmony sung without instrumentation. The group’s membership is currently 18 women from Sedona, Cottonwood and the Verde Valley, Flagstaff and Prescott. Several are charter members.

“This is our main show of the year. Although it’s our holiday show, not all of the songs will be for the holidays. We’ll do some of our standard pieces that people love, and we’ll include several carols. We even have one for Hanukkah,” said Sandy Wingate, the director of the chorus for the past 4½ years and a charter member.

The show included a young women’s quartet from Scottsdale, Dream Catchers, which recently won fourth place in a national competition, as special guests.

“Our very own Jeanie Carroll will also bless us with a couple of solos,” Wingate said.

Pieces the women sang during the show included “Alexander’s Ragtime Band,” “Tuxedo Junc-tion” and “Dancing Queen.” They will also sing “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,” “Jingle Bells” and finish with “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

In addition to the annual holiday concert, Red RockAppella sings for a number of community events throughout the year and by request for parties. Members also enter regional competitions.
