The comedy rock band, which formed at Green Jello in Kenmore, N.Y., had a propensity for the absurd that just became the norm from the beginning.Pronounced “green jello,” Green Jellÿ is a comedy heavy metal band founded in Kenmore, N.Y. The band plays Main Stage in Cottonwood on Friday, April 25.

Camp Verde considers leash laws

The Town of Camp Verde is looking at adding leash laws to its rules governing animals on town property.Camp Verde City Council recently discussed changes to the town’s animal code regarding pets. The new rule would make it mandatory that pets be on leashes in public, as demonstrated by Jack, a 6-year-old German Shepherd owned by Lynn White.

Last week, the Town Council continued a discussion about the issue at its Wednesday, April 16, regular meeting.

Fake accident leaves impression

Local news covered a tragic story last week.The “victim’s” body is put on a gurney, as the specter of Death looms over, in a macabre bit of theater, meant to teach a lesson to students on Thursday, April 10, at Mingus Union High School. Cottonwood firefighters and police narrated a mock fatal crash caused by drunk driving. The mock accident was laid out as part of the Every 15 Minutes campaign.
Following a celebration after a dance, an SUV collided with a sedan on Mingus Avenue. Both vehicles were filled with students.

USFS bans glass from Fossil Creek

As the temperature rises, so does the number of visitors to some of the most popular spots along Fossil and Oak creeks.The Forest Service banned glass containers along the banks of Fossil Creek or Oak Creek beginning Tuesday, April 1, to prevent  injuries to people walking or wading with bare feet.

And while users of these areas are welcomed, glass containers are not.
