Making baskets has been an important part of Navajo culture and other native cultures for centuries.Pat Seltzer was at a gun show in Camp Verde last weekend, displaying not firearms, but a collection of Navajo baskets and saddle cinches. Seltzer and her husband Jack amassed the  collection while living in the Four Corners region.

The skills required to craft the intricate designs make each item truly a work of art.

A local gun shop owner is looking after an impressive collection of artifacts from World War II.A collection of pristine World War II memorabilia, much of it captured by U.S. Army Rangers from Nazi soldiers is currently on display in Camp Verde. Under the care of Dave Jonas, who owns and operates a gun store in town with his wife, the future of the collection is uncertain. What is certain is that in some way, it will be made available to the public.

Much of it is German uniforms and weapons captured by the U.S. Army’s 1st Ranger Battalion.

The construction of a new library in Camp Verde is back on track.Camp Verde’s Public Library has outgrown its building. After months of uncertainty, the library has cleared its financial hurdles and can begin construction when final bids are in place.

Financing has been arranged, according to a report from Town Manager Russ Martin’s office.

The Camp Verde Unified School District is taking a look at how the new four-day school week has been going.Students in Tina Scott’s digital media class busily work on projects during sixth period. While the school days are slightly longer, the four-day school week has been well received.

It’s still early, as the elimination of Friday classes has only been in effect the current school year.
