The unofficial elections results for the town of Clarkdale’s Primary Election show that incumbent Mayor Doug Von Gausig, incumbent Vice Mayor Richard Dehnert and incumbent Councilwoman Patricia Williams all received more than 50 percent of the votes cast and were re-elected to their seats on the Clarkdale Town Council.
Of the 790 votes cast, unopposed Von Gausig won 621, or 95.83 percent. There were 27 write-in votes.
The 2012 Clarkdale General Plan was also approved by the voters, 436 to 252, or 63.37 percent to 36.63 percent. With all seats being filled in the Primary Election, there will be no need for a General Election in May. Election results will become official after all ballots are counted and council canvasses the results at its regular meeting March 27. Total voter turnout at present was 34.78 percent. In the Jerome Town Council election, 135 voters cast ballots, a turnout of 40.79 percent. With unofficial results posted, Nikki Check won 88 votes or 65.19 percent. Lewis Currier won 81 votes or 60 percent exactly. William "Bill" Phinney won 77 votes or 57.04 percent. Randall Hunt and Anne Bassett both won 70 votes, or 51.85 percent. There were 6 write-in votes. With 102 votes for and 13 votes against, Jerome's Proposition 421 passed overwhelmingly, 88.7 percent to 11.3 percent. |
